Our Solutions.
The VR360 builds on the success of the VR90 series and represents the most significant technological advancement in the subsurface industry since horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. Addressing inherent technology limitations and neglected operator requirements.
Seeing Is Believing. VR360 Well Integrity Diagnostics.
Like knocking on a wall to find a stud, existing acoustic technology can’t see behind the 2nd layer of casing, and the diagnostic from the 1st layer of casing often leaves guesswork.
Visuray X-ray technology produces clear data behind both layers of casing.
The Problem.
- Well maintenance decisions are made with inconclusive data about cement integrity, leading to unnecessary costs.
- The lack of confidence in diagnostics behind the 2nd casing string increases cost of well interventions.
- Existing diagnostic methods have inherent limitations, resulting in inaccurate and uncertain data.
Our Solution.
- X-ray technology overcomes the limitations of existing acoustic technologies, providing reliable data for definitive answers.
- Visuray’s VR360 platform is uniquely capable of diagnostics in the annuli A- & B (1st & 2nd casing strings).
- Diagnostics at the well site allow operators to make decisions in real-time and avoid unnecessary, costly well interventions.

How it Works & Technical Specifications
The increasing emphasis on verifying rock-to-rock barriers without extensive casing removal has created a need for diagnostic technologies capable of imaging the annular environment through multiple casing strings. X-ray–based density measurements offer a fundamentally different approach because they respond directly to density variations within the surrounding well structure rather than relying on acoustic coupling across interfaces. Density contrasts associated with mud channels, voids, fluid-filled regions, and degraded cement can therefore be detected even in environments where acoustic methods may be ineffective.
The VR360 operates like an inside-out CAT scan. As the tool is conveyed through the well, a 360-degree X-ray beam penetrates the borehole and surrounding annuli through fluid, steel, cement, and rock. The emitted photons interact with the formation and well materials, scatter back toward the tool, and are captured by a cylindrical detector array.
The logged data is converted into three-dimensional radial profiles at multiple depths of investigation and transmitted to the surface via conventional wireline for real-time processing. The resulting density distribution maps and continuous depth logs highlight features by annulus, enabling operators to make real-time, data-driven decisions for planning and productivity assurance.
